Harris Paints recently swept the competition aside following a dominant performance where they copped a total of seven prestigious awards, as the St. Lucia Manufacturers Association (SMA) held its biennial awards ceremony at the Sandals Halcyon Hotel.
Harris Paints won these coveted awards from a field of 14 manufacturing companies nominated, which included the top prize for the evening - the Award of Excellence - which was presented to Harris Paints by Prime Minister, the Right Honorable Dr. Kenny Anthony and the President of The St Lucia Manufacturers Association Mrs. Calderon for the highest level of Excellence among manufacturers in St. Lucia.
Among the lineup of awards were five Diamond Awards and the President's Award for Excellence as well as first place in a new category, the Lawson Calderon Award for Eco Manufacturing.
The Diamond award which was the highest in the various categories was presented to Harris Paints for Product and Customer Service quality, Leadership, Social Responsibility, Implementation of Standards and Best Practice, Human Resource Development. Harris Paints was the only company to achieve Diamond award in all the categories.
Senior VP Human Resources and Head of Harris Paints Business for St. Lucia and DominicaMrs. Marguerite Desir, was also awarded by the President of the SMA for her contribution as a woman in a leadership position. This special award was to commemorate International Women's day."
The award for which Harris Paints was probably most pleased was the inaugural Eco Manufacturing award which was presented because of the many green initiatives implemented by the Company as a whole.
Mrs. Paula Calderon, the President of the SMA, confirmed that the awards were achieving their goal of raising the quality standard of the manufacturers in St. Lucia, explaining that all those who had entered again this year had increased their points system and realised overall improvements. She lauded them for their investment in the economy.
As part of the décor for the evening, Harris Paints had a little colourful house on display, which caught the interest and eyes of many during the night. (PR)
