Harris Paints Provides Colours of Hope and Healing across the Caribbean

At Harris Paints, we believe in the high-quality products we create and offer – and also in their transformative emotional and psychological power! Colour not only transforms the physical but can also enhance people, their lives and create a positive change in communities everywhere.  

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2024, we were excited to launch a vibrant initiative that invited our online community, to help us identify and select spaces in need of a colour uplift that would also support those affected by breast cancer.

The response to our call for nominations was truly heartwarming and by your votes, deserving spaces across Guyana, Jamaica, Barbados, Antigua, Dominica and Saint Lucia that provide crucial support to breast cancer patients and their families, were selected. We are proud to announce the following facilities selected for our transformative initiative:

• Faces of Cancer in Saint Lucia
• Georgetown Public Hospital in Guyana
• The Breast Screening Programme (BSP) of the Barbados Cancer Society in Barbados 
• The Oncology Unit of the Dominica China Friendship Hospital in Dominica
• The Oncology Department of the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre in Antigua

Representatives from each facility received a gift voucher for paint and supplies as part of this regional campaign which enabled them to beautify their walls and create a more inviting, calming environment for patients, their loved ones, and staff.

Research shows how colour can significantly enhance psychological well-being and this drives our commitment to donating paint and other supplies to vital centers and facilities such as these, where colour can help create more relaxing and uplifting environments that allow patients to focus more on positivity and healing.

This initiative was particularly special because it involved our community. Your nominations and engagement helped us identify critical spaces where colour could make a significant impact, supporting healthcare facilities that provide essential care and comfort to breast cancer patients. We believe that these transformations will serve as lasting symbols of hope and healing as we create environments that comfort and inspire patients during their treatment journey and survivorship.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated. As these facilities complete their transformations, we look forward to sharing the results and to continuing our commitment to supporting our communities through the power of colour!
