Harris Paints is a regional group of companies which manufactures, distributes, and retails paint, accessories, and high-performance coatings across the region.

As our business continues to expand its regional base, we are seeking to engage an analytical, problem-solving and customer-focused individual to join our Regional Technical Team. This position will be based in Barbados.

Technical Officer - Due September 11, 2026

Core Responsibilities:

You will ensure that all essential technical information on product specifications, attributes, and performance is updated. You will perform laboratory procedures for quality control, research and development, identifying physical and chemical properties, and other activities involving experimental, theoretical, or practical science applications. You will use visual inspections or measuring instruments to determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality and monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.

Qualifications / Experience:

• A First Degree in Chemistry or related area along with at least two (2) years of experience in a similar or related area.
  OR
• Tertiary level qualification in Chemistry or related area along with five (5) years relevant experience.

Skills, Competencies and Requirements for the position:

1. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
   
2. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – especially Microsoft Excel
   
3. Knowledge and understanding of a hands-on manufacturing operation
   
4. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
   
5. First-hand experience with planning, budgeting, and forecasting
   
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a sharp production focus
   
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
   
8. Good conflict resolution abilities
