Bare aluminum (mill finish) is generally a smooth surface that reacts to air to form a thin powdery layer of oxidization. It appears polished or unpolished and poses challenges for paint adhesion.
Ensure the surface is clean and free from dirt, grease etc. If a white corrosive deposit is present, lightly sand to smooth and remove. Scrub with a non-metallic scouring pad or abrasive. Wipe the entire surface with methylated spirits frequently changing the cloth to thoroughly remove all grease.
Prime all bare metal with 1 coat Super Grip Premium Problem-Solving Primer and allow to dry thoroughly
Use Ulttima Plus Acrylic Porch & Patio Enamel, Ulttima Plus Satin or Gloss (emulsion or oil) or Pro Speed Cover Gloss Emulsion.
