Ferrous metal is prone to rusting in moist, tropical conditions and in salty, seaside environments. Left untreated the metal will weaken and deteriorate
Remove all loose and flaking rust with a wire brush. Sand to remove remaining encrusted rust and to smooth.
Prime with 1-2 coats rust-inhibiting, high-adhesion Rust Chem Universal Primer or Rust Chem Anchorlite Heavy Duty Primer and allow to dry thoroughly.
Water-based system: Use Ulttima Plus Acrylic Porch & Patio Enamel, Ulttima Plus Satin or Gloss Emulsion or Pro Speed Cover Gloss Emulsion.
Solvent–based system: Use Rust Chem Super Gloss Enamel or Ulttima Plus Gloss Oil Enamel.

While Harris/ B-H Paints do supply specialist High Performance Coatings (HPCs) these fall outside the scope of this guide. HPCs are a class of technically advanced protective coatings designed to give superior levels of impact, abrasion and corrosion protection designed for aggressive environments including high traffic areas and in commercial and industrial applications.
