The seasoned campaigners prevailed in the Harris Paints-sponsored Golf tournament played at the Lusignan Golf Course on Saturday January 22, 2011. Veteran golfer Boolaram Deo emerged victorious on a count back from Fazil Haniff in the medal play format tournament with a net score of 69 from a gross 84 playing off a 15 handicap.

Fazil Haniff, another seasoned campaigner, secured the second position returning a net score of 69 from a gross 83 playing off a 14 handicap. Mohanlall Dinnath was once again on the podium, capturing the third position with a net score of 70 from a gross, 75 playing off a 5 handicap. Another regular prize winner, Esan Shamshudin, won the award for Nearest to the pin on hole 8. Secretary of the Lusignan Golf Club, William Walker, thanked Harris Paints for continuing to be a regular sponsor and said the club looked forward to continued sponsorship in the future. Harris Paints’ Retail Service Manager, Garfield Munasseh, said his company was extremely pleased to sponsor this tournament and is looking forward to continue offering support to the LGC. He said that Harris Paints will be offering a voucher towards its new line of paints.

The company is also happy to donate funds towards the club’s youth programme that will soon be offering free lessons to youths between 10 and 17 years, as well as teaching the etiquette and rules of the game. Yesterday’s Harris Paints tournament kicked off the Lusignan Golf Club 2011 golf season. According to Club Captain Patrick Prashad, this year promises to see more growth in the game and even fiercer competition among existing players after a 2010 that saw close to 40 tournaments held, all well supported by the corporate community.
