Nahtalee to perform Harris Paints "Colours" at celebratory concert

Local Soca star, Nahtalee, will brighten up The Plantation Theatre when she performs the Harris Paints version of “Colours” live for the first time at “eyan” Shades of Gold, a concert being held to celebrate the birthday and career of local musician, Ian Alleyne.

Adapted from Nahtalee’s popular 2005 Party Monarch winning tune “Colours”, the song depicts the vibrancy of Caribbean people, their love of colour, and the quality and range of products produced and supplied by Harris Paints, the Caribbean Champions of Colour. Luke Ticknor, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Harris Paints said the song was chosen because it matched the image of Harris Paints: “Caribbean culture is strong and vibrant just like the products produced and sold by Harris Paints, the Caribbean Champions of Colour, and “Colours” was a song that embodied these characteristics. It also resonates well with persons residing in all of our markets across the region, and therefore we worked with the artist to create a version fitting of Harris Paints outstanding quality and image.”

Nahtalee is one of the many guest artists to appear at the concert scheduled for Friday, February 11, 2011, of which Harris Paints has signed on as a Silver Sponsor. Ticknor said Harris Paints was happy to lend support to an event paying tribute to an individual who has helped to develop Barbados’ rich culture: “Ian is one of the persons who helped to shape Barbadian culture, and as a committed supporter of cultural development, we jumped at the opportunity to be involved in this endeavour, paying tribute to a musical icon who has been a great ambassador for Barbados.” In addition to Nahtalee, the list of artists slated to perform at the show include The Boogie Knights Band, featuring John King, Tamara Marshall, Ricky Aimey, Kitora, and “eyan” himself; as well as TC, Biggie Irie, Gabby, Adrian Clarke, Mr Dale, Smokey Burke and Peter Ram, among others, all of whom have worked closely with Mr. Alleyne over the years.
