IN RECENT times, there has been an appeal from various quarters for corporate Barbados to play a more active role in community development. The Productivity Council is one such organisation who has heard the call and responded positively. On July 21 2011, The Productivity Council, in a joint effort with Harris Paints Ltd., donated a number of garbage receptacles to the community of Bannister's Land, St. Michael.
Digicel and Harris Paints teamed up over the weekend to bring some colour and beauty to the St. Philip District Hospital. Along with many other partners, including the Kiwanis Club of Barbados South, Williams Industries, Divi Southwinds, Banks Holdings, Ravurs Kadooment Band and Jal Catering, the telecommunications and paint company, did whatever it took to complete the painting of two buildings at the hospital last Saturday.

Digicel and Harris Paints recently came together to paint the newly-constructed home of a West Bank Demerara woman who recently benefitted from a 500,000 donation from the phone company to build the house. Digicel, on Valentine's Day, gave away over $8 million to its customers and the less fortunate in celebration of its fourth anniversary.
Over the weekends of May 21 and 22 and June 4 and 5, volunteer teams from the Discover Dominica Authority, National Bank of Dominica Ltd, Harris Paints Dominica Ltd, Ministry of Tourism & Legal Affairs, and Tourism students of the Dominica State College alongside qualified painters came out to paint six houses in the city of Roseau as part of the Roseau Paint-A-Thon 2011.
Six primary schools will participate in the Primary Schools Bin Painting Competition, one of the activities organized for Tourism Awareness Month 2011. Bins painted by students of the Mahaut Government School, Roseau Primary School, Goodwill Primary School, Christian Union Primary School, Soufriere Primary School and St. Luke's Primary School will be judged at 10.30 am on Wednesday May 25, 2011 at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.
BH Paints, the Caribbean Champions of Colour, have injected colour into the lives of the students of the St. Michael's Primary School, having recently repainted two classrooms, a library, and the school's canteen. As part of their 2011 Labour Day paint project, BH Paints teamed up with the Jamaica Constabulary Motorized Patrol Division, who invited the Caribbean Champions of Colour to partner with them in their efforts to provide a facelift to areas of the Tower Street, Kingston community.
Thanks to Harris Paints and the Pinelands Soccer Academy, two community residents will be smiling even brighter in the coming weeks. This is a result of one of the Pinelands Youth Soccer Academy's initiatives which will see them sprucing up the community by cleaning and painting the homes of the elderly, disabled and underprivileged in the area.
